Ilgi Adalan defines his own being with an artistic identity that is insistent and contains a strong belief in his art; forming his life upon this reality. For him, everything and especially "plastic materials" are elements that mediate creation and recreation. For Ilgi Adalan, art means deciphering ones own creative identity and reforming that identity by redefining it.
Adalan again works with methods that are formed by his unique work discipline. Adding his own sensuality, he reaches outside the boundaries of classical ceramic art by pushing the limits of the technical possibilities and realities. Like all his artistic creations, these functional plates and pots are perceived as the creative work of a free soul. Because he defines art, and life as general, as a method and action of creativity that takes form as a model. With his integrated aesthetic perspective and free soul, he took up his skill of surviving on his own and blended these talents to turn his art into a creative power. Anyway, this power gives him the talent to turn the most ordinary things into aesthetic objects. Even the most ordinary thing can show that it came out of the skilled hands of an artist who bears the talent of authentic sensuality. On these plates, bowls and pots, as the artist says: "I will continue to experiment on geometric forms and different variations of its units on various plates.
With the plates I am working on, I try different variations with organic figures and statuesque forms that do not contain any expression or comment."6 Thus the artist concentrates on even the most ordinary things with an intense enthusiasm and aesthetic worry. He walks on his own road in front of his personal lathe, bench and workshop; kneading his dreams and being knead by them while working with sketches, plans, clay and glazes. With every step, he continues to taste the freedom that is in peace with his own self, working to create the art he adopts and believes in.
The artist who resists and overcomes the harsh realities of life without compensating from his art, is of course conscious of all vital realities to the end. Maybe that is why he turns to functionality and makes ceramic objects that can also be used. But while he is doing all these, he approaches the problem with his own style. With a power based on patterns, an approach that he bakes with his own personality, he reaches the ceramic works, including the functional utensils, with a point of view that is backed up a technical level and Cemal Tollu patterns. Thus even making these works unique and sincere. He expresses his awareness of life and art like this: "Atilla Galatali solved this very well at that time. Building a workshop that is like a factory. While making utensils for sale, you can also work on your art.
